Lukáš Zeman
first studied bassoon, conducting and singing in Prague where he was born, and then went on to study singing with Sasja Hunnego and Andrew Schroeder at Royal Conservatory The Hague. He followed master classes of David Wilson-Johnson, Alessandro Corbelli, Margreet Hoonig, Malcolm Martineau and Donatella Debolini. He graduated at the Dutch National Opera Academy as II Conte in Le nozze di Figaro conducted by Richard Eggar and directed by Alexander Oliver. Lukas won the 3. prize at the biggest world competition for sacred music (Concorso Internazionale „ Musica Sacra“Roma 2014). At this moment he has been coaching with Prof. Piotr Miciński.
Lukas performed the role of Ulisse in Il ritorno d’Ulisse in patria in Bologna under musical supervision of Michele Vanelli. Between main events of last years were joining “Il canto di Orfeo” ensemble in the opera Die Soldaten by B.A. Zimmermann at the Teatro alla Scala conducted by Ingo Metzmacher and the Orfeo by Monteverdi (Pastore,Spirito and Apollo) under the guidance of Roberto Balconi (EXPO / Milano).
He performed the role of Jontek in Halka (S. Moniuszko/2. version) in Slowacki Theater in Cracow, the role of Kuligin in Robert Carsen´s production of Káťa Kabanová at Teatro Regio in Torino and Heerrufer in Lohengrin at Teatro Comunale di Bologna under baton of Asher Fisch. Lately he also performed Orfeo by Monteverdi (Orfeo) at the Pilsen Opera House and Margravian Theater in Bayreuth.
Besides these activities he is passionate also with chamber music. He gave solo recitals in India, Japan, New Zealand, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary and Netherlands.
In summer 2018 he performed the role of Apollon in Les Boréades from J.P. Rameau at the Oude Muziek Utrecht festival (Collegium 1704), which was repeated in Zaryadye Moscow and in Theater an der Wien.
In 2019 he was nominated for Thalia award for performing Orfeo and in november 2020 he won the prize Thalia for singing Il conte in Le nozze di Figaro.
Next season Lukáš will sing Kuligin in Káťa Kabanová at the Barbican hall London conducted by Sir Simon Rattle and the role of Small Prisoner/Cook From the house of the Dead at the theatre Opera di Roma in production of Krzysztof Warlikowski
